THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM SYSTEM DESCRIPTION


  1. OUTLINE OF THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM


    • The theft deterrent system can be set by locking the doors using any of the following operations:


      • Entry lock operation

      • Wireless lock operation

      • Key linked lock operation

    • In the armed state, the alarm function will be activated if one of the following conditions is met:


      • Any of the doors is unlocked.

      • Any of the doors or the engine hood is opened.

    • In the alarm sounding state, the system blinks the turn signal lights. At the same time, the system sounds the vehicle horns and security horn assembly to deter break-in and theft as well as to warn people around the vehicle.

    • The theft deterrent system can be canceled by unlocking the doors using any of the following operations:


      • Entry unlock operation

      • Wireless unlock operation

      • Key linked unlock operation

    • The theft deterrent system has an active arming mode. There are 4 states in this mode; a disarmed state, an arming preparation state, an armed state and an alarm sounding state.


    1. Disarmed state:


      • The alarm function is not operating.

      • The theft deterrent system is not operating.

    2. Arming preparation state:


      • The time until the system goes into the armed state.

      • The theft deterrent system is not operating.

    3. Armed state:


      • The theft deterrent system is operating.

    4. Alarm sounding state:


      • The alarm function is operating.

    1. This system operates as described in the diagram below when one of the items for each condition is met.

      The term "all doors" used in this section refers to the driver door, front passenger door, slide door LH, slide door RH and back door.

      In disarmed state 1, when the engine switch is off, the system state is switched if one of the following conditions is met:


      • With all doors and the engine hood closed, all doors are locked by wireless operation, the smart entry and start system or key linked power door lock operation.*1

      • With all doors and the engine hood closed, all doors are locked by wireless operation, the smart entry and start system.*2

      • Allow approx. 30 seconds to elapse.*3

      • Allow approx. 9 seconds to elapse.*4

      • All doors are unlocked by wireless operation, the smart entry and start system or key linked power door lock operation.*1

      • All doors are unlocked by wireless operation or the smart entry and start system.*2

      • Any door is unlocked.

      • Any door is opened.

      • The engine switch is pushed.

      • The engine switch is turned on (ACC) or on (IG).

      • The battery is reconnected.

      • The engine hood is opened when the engine hood is closed.

      • Any door is opened when all doors are closed.

      • Any door is unlocked when all doors are locked.

      • When 5 seconds or more have elapsed after the engine switch is pressed, the power source mode is changed from off to on (IG) without pressing the engine switch.

      • The engine hood is open.*2

      • Any door is open.*2

      • The power source mode is on (IG).*2

      • The engine switch is turned on (IG) and the engine is running at 550 rpm for 2 seconds or more.

      • All doors are unlocked by wireless operation, the smart entry and start system or key linked power door lock operation.*1

      • All doors are unlocked by wireless operation or the smart entry and start system.*2

      • The engine switch is turned on (ACC) or on (IG) within 5 seconds after the engine switch is pushed.

      • The power back door is opened by the wireless one motion function.*5

      • After approx. 27.5 seconds, the alarm stops and 5 seconds later the system returns to the armed state.

      • The engine hood is closed when the engine hood is open.

      • Any door is unlocked when all doors are locked.

      • Any door is opened.

      • The engine switch is pushed.

      • The engine switch is turned on (ACC) or on (IG).

      • The battery is reconnected.

      • All doors are unlocked by wireless operation, the smart entry and start system or key linked power door lock operation.*1

      • All doors are unlocked by wireless operation or the smart entry and start system.*2

      • The power back door is opened by the wireless one motion function.*5

      • During a close operation, the power back door reverses operation, stops partway or another door opens.*5

      In disarmed state 1, when the engine switch is off, the system state is switched if one of the following conditions is met:


      • With all doors closed and the engine hood open, all doors are locked by wireless operation, the entry and start system or key linked power door lock operation.*1

      • With all doors closed and the engine hood open, all doors are locked by wireless operation or the smart entry and start system.*2

      • During a power back door close operation with all other doors closed, the doors are locked (power back door reservation lock) by wireless operation.*5

  • FORCED DOOR LOCK CONTROL


    1. The forced door lock control prevents the vehicle from being tampered with. Immediately after a door is unlocked (armed state), all doors are forced to lock by a forced door lock signal.


      1. If the following conditions are met, the forced door lock control is operated.


        • The theft deterrent system is in the armed state.

        • Any door is unlocked.

  • SECURITY INDICATOR LIGHT OUTPUT


    1. According to the state of the theft deterrent system, the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) outputs a signal to turn the security indicator light on. However, some of the actual lighting conditions of the security indicator light are different from the output signals of the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU).

      Tech Tips

      When the immobiliser system is set, the security indicator light blinks during both the disarmed state and the armed state due to output signals from the immobiliser system.
