IMMOBILISER SYSTEM Security Indicator Light Does not Blink

DESCRIPTION

The certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) blinks the security indicator light when the immobiliser is set (engine switch off, or driver door opened and closed with engine switch on (IG)).

Note


  • The immobiliser system uses the CAN communication system. Inspect the communication function by following How to Proceed with Troubleshooting. Troubleshoot the immobiliser system after confirming that the communication systems are functioning properly.

  • When using the GTS with the engine switch off, connect the GTS to the DLC3 and turn a courtesy light switch on and off at intervals of 1.5 seconds or less until communication between the GTS and the vehicle begins. Then select Model Code "KEY REGIST" under manual mode and enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Entry&Start(CAN). While using the GTS, periodically turn a courtesy light switch on and off at intervals of 1.5 seconds or less to maintain communication between the GTS and the vehicle.

  • Before replacing the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) or main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU), refer to Service Bulletin.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK FOR DTC


    1. Check for DTCs.


      Body Electrical > Entry&Start > Trouble Codes

      1. for 2AR-FE


        Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Trouble Codes

      2. for 2GR-FKS


        Powertrain > Engine > Trouble Codes
      OK
      DTCs are not output

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING GTS (IMMOBILISER INDICATOR)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Entry&Start / Active Test.

    5. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the GTS.

  3. CHECK SECURITY INDICATOR LIGHT OPERATION


    1. When the immobiliser is set, check that the security indicator light blinks.*1

    2. When the theft deterrent system is in the arming preparation state, check that the security indicator light illuminates.*2

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY (SECURITY INDICATOR LIGHT))


    1. Disconnect the G22 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.

    2. Disconnect the G16 combination meter assembly (security indicator light) connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  5. CHECK CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY)


    1. Reconnect the G22 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.

    2. Reconnect the G16 combination meter assembly (security indicator light) connector.

    3. Using an oscilloscope, check the waveform.
