STEERING WHEEL REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization, or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed, installed, or replaced during the steering wheel assembly removal/installation are shown below.

  • Do not replace the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly with the battery connected and the engine switch on (IG).

  • Do not rotate the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly without the steering wheel assembly with the battery connected and the engine switch on (IG).

  • Ensure that the steering wheel assembly is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering sensor.

PROCEDURE


  1. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

  2. REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY

  3. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY


    1. Disconnect each connector from the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly.

    2. w/ Steering Heater:

        Disconnect the connector from the steering wheel heater control assembly.

      *a Matchmark

      Remove the steering wheel assembly set nut.

    4. Put matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and steering main shaft.

      *a Turn
      *b Hold

      Using SST, remove the steering wheel assembly.

      09950-50013   ( 09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05070 )

      Note

      Apply a small amount of grease to the threads and tip of SST (09953-05020) before use.

  4. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY

  5. REMOVE CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH (w/ Cruise Control System)

  6. REMOVE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH WIRE (w/ Cruise Control System)


    1. Remove the cruise control switch wire.

  7. REMOVE STEERING SHAKE DAMPER

      Remove the 2 screws and steering shake damper from the steering wheel sub-assembly.

  8. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL HEATER CONTROL ASSEMBLY (w/ Steering Heater)

  9. REMOVE LOWER STEERING WHEEL BOSS COVER (w/o Steering Heater)

      Disengage the 6 claws to remove the lower steering wheel boss cover from the steering wheel assembly.
