REAR DISC BRAKE PAD REPLACEMENT

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note

After replacing the rear disc brake pads, the brake pedal may feel soft due to clearance between the rear disc brake pads and rear disc. Depress the brake pedal several times until the brake pedal feels firm.

  • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  • The following procedure is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. PRECAUTION

  2. PERFORM REAR BRAKE PAD REPLACEMENT MODE

  3. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

    Click here

  4. SEPARATE REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE

      Remove the bolt and separate the rear flexible hose.

  5. DISCONNECT NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY

      Disconnect the No. 2 parking brake wire assembly connector from the parking brake actuator assembly.

      Note


      • Remove any dirt or foreign matter on and around the connector before performing this work.

      • Do not allow water, oil or dirt to enter the connector.

  6. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PAD

    CAUTION:

    Be careful not to get pinched by the rear disc brake cylinder assembly or other parts when removing the rear disc brake pads.

      *a Turn
      *b Hold

      Hold the rear No. 1 disc brake cylinder slide pin and remove the bolt.

    2. Pull the rear disc brake cylinder assembly upward.

    3. A01IIF2

      Remove the 2 rear disc brake pads from the rear disc brake cylinder mounting.

  7. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM KIT

  8. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM KIT

  9. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE PAD

    CAUTION:

    Be careful not to get pinched by the rear disc brake cylinder assembly or other parts when installing the rear disc brake pads.


    1. Push in the rear disc brake piston.

      Note


      • Make sure the brake fluid does not overflow from the reservoir.

      • Do not forcibly push in the rear disc brake piston.

    2. Install the 2 rear disc brake pads to the rear disc brake cylinder mounting.

      Note

      Install the rear disc brake pad so that the rear disc brake pad wear indicator plate is mounted on the lower side of the vehicle.

    3. Hold the rear No. 1 disc brake cylinder slide pin and install the rear disc brake cylinder assembly to the rear disc brake cylinder mounting with new bolt.

      Torque:
      34.3 N*m  { 350 kgf*cm, 25 ft.*lbf }
  10. CONNECT NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY

      Connect the No. 2 parking brake wire assembly connector to the parking brake actuator assembly.

  11. INSTALL REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE


    1. A01IGK2

      Install the rear flexible hose with a bolt.

      Torque:
      18.8 N*m  { 192 kgf*cm, 14 ft.*lbf }
    2. A01IG9JC01
      *1 No. 5 Flexible Hose Bracket

      Tighten the bolts of the No. 5 flexible hose bracket shown in the illustration.

      Torque:
      17.8 N*m  { 182 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf }

      Tech Tips

      The bolts of the flexible hose brackets may become loose after removing and installing the rear flexible hose.

  12. INSPECT BRAKE FLUID LEVEL IN RESERVOIR
