REAR AXLE CARRIER REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization, or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed, installed, or replaced during the rear axle carrier sub-assembly removal/installation are shown below.

Rear wheel alignment adjustment
  1. Clear zero point calibration data and store system information.

  2. Perform yaw rate and acceleration sensor zero point calibration and store system information.


  • VSC disabled or malfunctions

  • DTCs are stored

  • Slip indicator light illuminates

  • ABS warning light illuminates

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

  2. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 CONTROL ARM COVER

  3. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 CONTROL ARM COVER

  4. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY

  5. REMOVE REAR DISC

    Click here

  6. SEPARATE SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE


    1. Disconnect the skid control sensor wire connector.

      Remove the 2 bolts and separate the skid control sensor wire from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly and the rear trailing arm assembly.

  7. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY

      Loosen the bolt (lower side) of the rear shock absorber assembly.

      *a Matchmark

      Place matchmarks on the rear No. 2 suspension toe adjust plate, rear suspension toe adjust cam sub-assembly and rear suspension member sub-assembly.

    3. Loosen the bolt (rear suspension member sub-assembly side) of the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly.

      Note

      Hold the rear No. 2 suspension toe adjust plate while rotating the bolt.

      Using a jack and a wooden block, support the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly.

      Note


      • When jacking up the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly, be sure to jack it up slowly.

      • Make sure to perform this operation with the vehicle kept as low as possible.

    5. Remove the bolt (A), and separate the rear shock absorber assembly from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly.

    6. Loosen the bolt (B).

      Note

      Because the nut has its own stopper, do not turn the nut. Loosen the bolt with the nut secured.

    7. Remove the bolt (C) and nut, and separate the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly.

      Note

      Because the nut has its own stopper, do not turn the nut. Loosen the bolt with the nut secured.

    8. Remove the bolt (B), nut, parking brake wire bracket and rear axle carrier sub-assembly from the rear upper control arm assembly.

      Note

      Because the nut has its own stopper, do not turn the nut. Loosen the bolt with the nut secured.
