REAR AXLE HUB BOLT REPLACEMENT

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  • The following procedure is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

  2. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY

      Remove the bolt and separate the No. 2 parking brake wire assembly.

    2. Disconnect the No. 2 parking brake wire assembly connector.

      Remove the 2 bolts and separate the rear flexible hose from the No. 5 flexible hose bracket and No. 6 flexible hose bracket.

    4. Remove the 2 bolts and separate the rear disc brake caliper assembly from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly.

      Note

      Use wire or an equivalent tool to keep the rear disc brake caliper assembly from hanging by the rear flexible hose.

  3. REMOVE REAR DISC

  4. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB BOLT


    1. B006NVTC02
      *a Service Nut

      Temporarily install 2 service nuts to the rear axle hub bolts as shown in the illustration.

      Recommended Service Nut
      Thread diameter: 12.0 mm (0.472 in.)
      Thread pitch: 1.5 mm (0.0591 in.)

      Note

      Install the service nuts to prevent damage to the rear axle hub bolts.

    2. Using SST and a screwdriver or an equivalent tool to hold the rear axle hub and bearing assembly, remove the rear axle hub bolt.

      Note

      Do not damage the threads of the rear axle hub bolts.

  5. INSTALL REAR AXLE HUB BOLT

      *a Service Nut
      *b Washer

      Temporarily install a new rear axle hub bolt to the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

    2. Install a washer and service nut to the rear axle hub bolt as shown in the illustration.

      Recommended Service Nut
      Thread diameter: 12.0 mm (0.472 in.)
      Thread pitch: 1.5 mm (0.0591 in.)

      Tech Tips

      Recommended washer thickness is 5 mm (0.197 in.) or more.

    3. Using a screwdriver or an equivalent tool to hold the rear axle hub and bearing assembly, install the rear axle hub bolt by tightening the service nut.

      Note


      • Install the service nuts to prevent damage to the rear axle hub bolts.

      • Do not damage the threads of the rear axle hub bolts.

    4. Remove the 3 service nuts and washer from the 3 rear axle hub bolts.

  6. INSTALL REAR DISC

  7. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY


    1. Install the rear disc brake caliper assembly to the rear axle carrier sub-assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      150 N*m  { 1530 kgf*cm, 111 ft.*lbf }

      Install the rear flexible hose to the No. 5 flexible hose bracket and No. 6 flexible hose bracket with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      Bolt (A)
      18.8 N*m  { 192 kgf*cm, 14 ft.*lbf }
      Bolt (B)
      17.8 N*m  { 182 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf }
    3. B006LF9C02
      *1 No. 5 Flexible Hose Bracket
      *2 No. 6 Flexible Hose Bracket

      Tighten the bolts of the No. 5 flexible hose bracket and No. 6 flexible hose bracket shown in the illustration.

      Torque:
      17.8 N*m  { 182 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf }

      Tech Tips

      The bolts of the flexible hose brackets may become loose after removing and installing the rear flexible hose.

    4. Connect the No. 2 parking brake wire assembly connector.

    5. Install the No. 2 parking brake wire assembly with the bolt.

      Torque:
      8.5 N*m  { 87 kgf*cm, 75 in.*lbf }
  8. INSTALL REAR WHEEL
