FRONT DIFFERENTIAL OIL SEAL REPLACEMENT

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization, or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed, installed, or replaced during the front differential oil seal removal/installation are shown below.

  1. Clear zero point calibration data and store system information.

  2. Perform yaw rate and acceleration sensor zero point calibration and store system information.

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER LH

    Click here

  2. DRAIN CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSAXLE FLUID

      Remove the refill plug and gasket from the rear transaxle case.

    2. B006NU2

      Using a 10 mm hexagon socket wrench, remove the drain plug and gasket from the transaxle oil (CVT) pan sub-assembly, and drain the fluid.

    3. Install a new gasket and the drain plug to the transaxle oil (CVT) pan sub-assembly.

      Torque:
      49 N*m  { 500 kgf*cm, 36 ft.*lbf }
    4. Temporarily install the gasket and refill plug to the rear transaxle case.

      Tech Tips

      Reuse the old gasket as the refill plug will be removed again to adjust the fluid level.

    1. Using SST, remove the front drive shaft oil seal LH from the transaxle case.

      Do not damage the transaxle case.

  6. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT OIL SEAL RH

    1. Using SST, remove the front drive shaft oil seal RH from the transaxle housing sub-assembly.

      Do not damage the transaxle housing sub-assembly.

  7. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT OIL SEAL RH


    1. Coat the lip of a new front drive shaft oil seal RH with MP grease.

      *a Depth

      Using SST and a hammer, install the front drive shaft oil seal RH to the transaxle housing sub-assembly.

      Standard Depth
      -0.5 to 0.5 mm (-0.0197 to 0.0197 in.)

      Note


      • Be sure to install the front drive shaft oil seal RH in the correct direction.

      • Make sure to install the front drive shaft oil seal RH as specified, otherwise malfunctions such as a fluid leak will occur.

      • Do not damage the lip of the front drive shaft oil seal RH.

  8. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT OIL SEAL LH


    1. Coat the lip of a new front drive shaft oil seal LH with MP grease.

      *a Depth

      Using SST and a hammer, install the front drive shaft oil seal LH to the transaxle case.

      Standard Depth
      -0.5 to 0.5 mm (-0.0197 to 0.0197 in.)

      Note


      • Be sure to install the front drive shaft oil seal LH in the correct direction.

  9. INSTALL DRIVE SHAFT BEARING BRACKET

  12. INSPECT FOR FLUID LEAK
