PARK / NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY OPERATION

   
   

   1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

   2. Fully apply the parking brake and chock all 4 wheels.

   3. Depress the brake pedal and check that the engine starts when the shift lever is in N or P, but does not start in any other position.

   4. Check that the back-up light illuminates and the reverse warning buzzer sounds only when the shift lever is in R, but does not function in any other position.

      If a malfunction or failure is found, check the park/neutral position switch assembly for continuity.
