REAR SPEED SENSOR REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization, or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed, installed, or replaced during the rear speed sensor removal/installation are shown below.

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  • The following procedure is for the LH side.

  • If the rear speed sensor rotor needs to be replaced, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

  • The rear speed sensor is a component of the rear axle hub and bearing assembly. If the rear speed sensor is malfunctioning, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

PROCEDURE


  1. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  3. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

  4. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY

  5. REMOVE REAR DISC

  6. DISCONNECT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE

      *a Protective Tape

      Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, disconnect the skid control sensor wire connector from the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the rear axle hub and bearing assembly and connector cover.

  7. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
