FUEL TANK REMOVAL

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE FUEL SUCTION TUBE WITH PUMP AND GAUGE ASSEMBLY

  2. DRAIN FUEL

  3. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER LH

    1. Remove the 3 bolts.

    2. Disengage the clip to remove the front floor cover LH from the vehicle body.

  4. DISCONNECT FUEL TANK MAIN TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Disconnect the fuel tank main tube sub-assembly from the fuel pipe.

  5. DISCONNECT NO. 1 FUEL EVAPORATION TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 1 fuel evaporation tube sub-assembly from the fuel pipe.

  6. DISCONNECT NO. 1 FUEL TANK BREATHER TUBE


    1. Disconnect the No. 1 fuel tank breather tube from the fuel pipe.

  7. DISCONNECT CHARCOAL CANISTER OUTLET TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Disconnect the charcoal canister outlet tube sub-assembly from the fuel pipe.

  8. REMOVE FUEL HOSE PROTECTOR

      Disengage the claw and remove the fuel hose protector from the fuel tank to filler pipe hose.

  9. DISCONNECT FUEL TANK TO FILLER PIPE HOSE

      Loosen the clamp, then disconnect the fuel tank to filler pipe hose from the fuel tank to filler pipe sub-assembly.

  10. REMOVE FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY

    CAUTION:

    The fuel tank assembly is very heavy. Be sure to follow the procedure described in the repair manual, or the fuel tank assembly may fall off the engine lifter.

      Support the fuel tank assembly using an engine lifter.

      Tech Tips

      Using height adjustment attachments and plate lift attachments, keep the fuel tank assembly horizontal.

    2. Remove the 4 bolts, fuel tank band and No. 2 fuel tank band.

    3. Lower the engine lifter to remove the fuel tank assembly.

      Note


      • Be careful not to drop the fuel tank assembly.

      • When removing the fuel tank assembly, tilt it slightly to prevent it from interfering with the surrounding parts.

  11. REMOVE FUEL TANK MAIN TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Disengage the 2 clamps to remove the fuel tank main tube sub-assembly from the fuel tank assembly.

  12. REMOVE NO. 1 FUEL EVAPORATION TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Disengage the 2 clamps to remove the No. 1 fuel evaporation tube sub-assembly from the fuel tank assembly.

  13. REMOVE FUEL HOSE GROMMET


    1. Disengage the clamp to remove the fuel hose grommet from the fuel tank assembly.

  14. REMOVE CHARCOAL CANISTER OUTLET TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Disengage the clamp to remove the charcoal canister outlet tube sub-assembly from the fuel tank assembly.

  15. REMOVE NO. 2 FUEL TUBE CLAMP WITH GROMMET


    1. B006OPP

      Disengage the clamp to remove the No. 2 fuel tube clamp with grommet from the fuel tank assembly.

  16. REMOVE NO. 2 FUEL EVAPORATION TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the No. 2 fuel evaporation tube sub-assembly from the fuel tank assembly.

  17. REMOVE NO. 1 FUEL TANK BREATHER TUBE

      Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 1 fuel tank breather tube from the fuel tank assembly.

  18. REMOVE FUEL TANK TO FILLER PIPE HOSE

      Loosen the clamp, then remove the fuel tank to filler pipe hose from the fuel tank assembly.
