FUEL TANK INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL FUEL TANK TO FILLER PIPE HOSE

      Install the fuel tank to filler pipe hose to the fuel tank assembly and tighten the clamp to secure it.

      Tech Tips

      Make sure the bolt of the clamp is positioned within the area shown in the illustration.

  2. INSTALL NO. 1 FUEL TANK BREATHER TUBE


    1. Install the No. 1 fuel tank breather tube to the fuel tank assembly and slide the clip to secure it.

  3. INSTALL NO. 2 FUEL EVAPORATION TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY

    Note

    Check that there is no damage or foreign matter on the connecting parts of the fuel lines.

      Install the No. 2 fuel evaporation tube sub-assembly to the fuel tank assembly.


      1. Align the fuel tube connector with the fuel pipe, and push them together until the fuel tube connector makes a "click" sound. If it is difficult to push the fuel pipe into the fuel tube connector, apply a small amount of clean gasoline to the tip of the fuel pipe and reinsert it.

      2. After connecting the fuel lines, check that the fuel pipe and fuel tube connector are securely connected by pulling on them.

  4. INSTALL NO. 2 FUEL TUBE CLAMP WITH GROMMET


    1. Engage the clamp to install the No. 2 fuel tube clamp with grommet from the fuel tank assembly.

  5. INSTALL CHARCOAL CANISTER OUTLET TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Engage the clamp to install the charcoal canister outlet tube sub-assembly to the fuel tank assembly.

  6. INSTALL NO. 1 FUEL EVAPORATION TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Engage the 2 clamps to install the No. 1 fuel evaporation tube sub-assembly to the fuel tank assembly.

  7. INSTALL FUEL TANK MAIN TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Engage the 2 clamps to install the fuel tank main tube sub-assembly to the fuel tank assembly.

  8. INSTALL FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY

    CAUTION:

    The fuel tank assembly is very heavy. Be sure to follow the procedure described in the repair manual, or the engine assembly with transaxle may fall off the engine lifter.

    1. Set the fuel tank assembly on an engine lifter.

      Tech Tips

      Using height adjustment attachments and plate lift attachments, keep the fuel tank assembly horizontal.

    2. Using the engine lifter, slowly raise the fuel tank assembly, and then install the fuel tank assembly with the fuel tank band and No. 2 fuel tank band with the 4 bolts.

      Torque:
      45 N*m  { 459 kgf*cm, 33 ft.*lbf }

      Note


      • Be careful not to drop the fuel tank assembly.

      • When installing the fuel tank assembly, tilt it slightly to prevent it from interfering with the surrounding parts.

  9. CONNECT FUEL TANK TO FILLER PIPE HOSE

      Connect the fuel tank to filler pipe hose to the fuel tank to filler pipe sub-assembly and tighten the clamp to secure it.

      Tech Tips

      Make sure the bolt of the clamp is positioned within the area shown in the illustration.

  10. INSTALL FUEL HOSE PROTECTOR


    1. Engage the claw to install the fuel hose protector to the fuel tank to filler pipe hose.

  11. CONNECT CHARCOAL CANISTER OUTLET TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Connect the charcoal canister outlet tube sub-assembly to the fuel pipe.

  12. CONNECT NO. 1 FUEL TANK BREATHER TUBE

    Note

    Check that there is no damage or foreign matter on the connecting parts of the fuel lines.

      Connect the No. 1 fuel tank breather tube to the fuel pipe.


      1. Align the fuel tube connector with the fuel pipe, and push them together until the fuel tube connector makes a "click" sound. If it is difficult to push the fuel pipe into the fuel tube connector, apply a small amount of clean gasoline to the tip of the fuel pipe and reinsert it.

      2. Connect the fuel lines and push in the retainer to engage the 2 claws. Check that the fuel pipe and fuel tube connector are securely connected by pulling on them.

  13. CONNECT NO. 1 FUEL EVAPORATION TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Connect the No. 1 fuel evaporation tube sub-assembly to the fuel pipe and slide the clip to secure it.

      Tech Tips

      Engage the clip within the area shown in the illustration.

  14. CONNECT FUEL TANK MAIN TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY

    Note

    Check that there is no damage or foreign matter on the connecting parts of the fuel lines.

      Connect the fuel tank main tube sub-assembly to the fuel pipe.


      1. Align the fuel tube connector with the fuel pipe, and push them together until the fuel tube connector makes a "click" sound. If it is difficult to push the fuel pipe into the fuel tube connector, apply a small amount of clean gasoline to the tip of the fuel pipe and reinsert it.

      2. Connect the fuel lines and push in the retainer to engage the 2 claws. Check that the fuel pipe and fuel tube connector are securely connected by pulling on them.

  15. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR COVER LH


    1. Install the front floor cover LH with the 3 bolts and clip.

  16. INSTALL FUEL SUCTION TUBE WITH PUMP AND GAUGE ASSEMBLY
