ECM REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed and installed, or replaced during ECM removal/installation are shown below.

*1: When the ECM is replaced with a new one, reset memory is unnecessary.

Note


  • After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

  • Perform Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) registration when replacing the ECM.

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  2. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE

  3. REMOVE RADIATOR COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for ALPHARD)

  4. REMOVE RADIATOR COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for VELLFIRE)

  5. SEPARATE CENTER NO. 1 COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER

  6. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  7. REMOVE BATTERY

  8. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the 3 bolts and air cleaner case sub-assembly.

  9. REMOVE INLET NO. 1 AIR CLEANER

      Remove the bolt and inlet No. 1 air cleaner.

  10. REMOVE INLET NO. 2 AIR CLEANER

      Remove the bolt and inlet No. 2 air cleaner.

  11. REMOVE ECM


    1. Rotate the 2 levers while pushing the locks, and disconnect the 2 ECM connectors.

      Note

      After disconnecting the ECM connectors, make sure that dirt, water or other foreign matter does not contact the connecting parts of the ECM connectors.

    2. Disengage the wire harness clamp.

    3. Remove the 3 bolts and ECM.

      Note

      If the ECM has been struck or dropped, replace it.

  12. REMOVE NO. 1 ECM BRACKET

      Remove the 2 screws and No. 1 ECM bracket from the ECM.

  13. REMOVE NO. 2 ECM BRACKET

      Remove the 2 screws and No. 2 ECM bracket from the ECM.
