SFI SYSTEM Starter Signal Circuit

DESCRIPTION

While the engine is being cranked, current flows from terminal ST1 of the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) to the park/neutral position switch assembly and to terminal STA of the ECM (STA signal).

Note


  • Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following procedure.

  • After turning engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK WHETHER ENGINE CAN BE CRANKED


    1. Check if the engine can be cranked.

  2. READ VALUE USING GTS (STARTER SIGNAL)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / All Data / Starter Signal.

    5. Check the value displayed on the GTS when the engine switch is on (IG) and engine started.

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ST NO. 1 RELAY - STARTER ASSEMBLY)


    1. Remove the ST NO. 1 relay from the No. 1 engine room relay block.

    2. Disconnect the starter assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

    3. Disconnect the starter assembly connector.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    1. Disconnect the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.

    2. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.

    3. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    1. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.

    2. Remove the ST NO. 1 relay from the No. 1 engine room relay block.

    3. Disconnect the TCM connector.

    4. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    5. Disconnect the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.

    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
