SFI SYSTEM Fuel Injector Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The fuel injector assemblies are located on the intake port. They inject fuel into the cylinders based on the signals from the ECM.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (POWER SOURCE OF FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY)

    1. Disconnect the fuel injector assembly connectors.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D45-2 - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      D46-2 - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      D47-2 - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      D48-2 - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      D49-2 - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      D50-2 - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

  2. INSPECT FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY


    1. Inspect the fuel injector assembly.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY - ECM)


    1. Disconnect the fuel injector assembly connectors.

    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D45-1 - D73-58 (#10) Always Below 1 Ω
      D46-1 - D73-54 (#20) Always Below 1 Ω
      D47-1 - D73-57 (#30) Always Below 1 Ω
      D48-1 - D73-53 (#40) Always Below 1 Ω
      D49-1 - D73-56 (#50) Always Below 1 Ω
      D50-1 - D73-55 (#60) Always Below 1 Ω
      D45-1 or D73-58 (#10) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D46-1 or D73-54 (#20) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D47-1 or D73-57 (#30) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D48-1 or D73-53 (#40) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 1 INTEGRATION RELAY - FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY)


    1. Disconnect the No. 1 integration relay connector.

    2. Disconnect the fuel injector assembly connectors.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      1D-8 - D45-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      1D-8 - D46-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      1D-8 - D47-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      1D-8 - D48-2 Always Below 1 Ω

      1D-8 - D50-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      1D-8 or D45-2 - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      1D-8 or D47-2 - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
