EXHAUST MANIFOLD REMOVAL

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed and installed, or replaced during exhaust manifold assembly RH (TWC: Front Catalyst) and exhaust manifold assembly LH (TWC: Front Catalyst) removal/installation are shown below.

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY

  2. DISCONNECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR CONNECTOR (for Bank 1)

    CAUTION:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust pipe or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

      Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector.

    2. B006QN0

      Disengage the heated oxygen sensor grommet from the vehicle body.

    3. Disengage the wire harness clamp.

  3. REMOVE FRONT NO. 3 EXHAUST PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY

    CAUTION:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust pipe or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

      Remove the 4 bolts, 2 nuts and 2 compression springs and front No. 3 exhaust pipe sub-assembly.

    2. Remove the 3 gaskets from the front No. 3 exhaust pipe sub-assembly.

  4. REMOVE MANIFOLD STAY

    CAUTION:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust manifold or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

      Remove the 2 bolts, nut and manifold stay from the exhaust manifold sub-assembly RH (TWC: Front Catalyst) and rear engine mounting bracket.

  5. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD ASSEMBLY RH (TWC: Front Catalyst)

    CAUTION:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust manifold or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

      Disconnect the air fuel ratio sensor (for Bank 1) connector.

    2. Disengage the 3 wire harness clamps.

      Using a 12 mm deep socket wrench, remove the 4 nuts and exhaust manifold assembly RH (TWC: Front Catalyst) from the cylinder head sub-assembly RH.

  6. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD TO HEAD GASKET (for Bank 1)

      Remove the exhaust manifold to head gasket (for Bank 1) from the cylinder head sub-assembly RH.

  7. REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (for Bank 1)

  8. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST PIPE SUPPORT BRACKET (for Lower Side)

    CAUTION:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust pipe or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

      Remove the 2 bolts and No. 1 exhaust pipe support bracket.

  9. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (TWC: Rear Catalyst)

    CAUTION:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust pipe or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

      Disengage the wire harness clamp.

    2. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor (for Bank 2) connector.

    3. B006KVA

      Remove the 2 nuts and front exhaust pipe assembly from the exhaust manifold sub-assembly LH (TWC: Front Catalyst).

    4. Remove the gasket from the front exhaust pipe assembly.

  10. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  11. REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (for Bank 2)

  12. REMOVE NO. 2 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR

    CAUTION:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust manifold or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

      Remove the 3 bolts and No. 2 exhaust manifold heat insulator from the exhaust manifold assembly LH (TWC: Front Catalyst).

  13. REMOVE NO. 2 MANIFOLD STAY

    CAUTION:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust manifold or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

      Remove the bolt, nut and No. 2 manifold stay from the exhaust manifold assembly LH (TWC: Front Catalyst) and cylinder block sub-assembly.

  14. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD ASSEMBLY LH (TWC: Front Catalyst)

    CAUTION:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust manifold or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

      Using a 12 mm deep socket wrench, remove the 4 nuts and exhaust manifold assembly LH (TWC: Front Catalyst).

  15. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD TO HEAD GASKET (for Bank 2)

      Remove the exhaust manifold to head gasket (for Bank 2) from the cylinder head sub-assembly.

  16. REMOVE STUD BOLT

    Tech Tips

    If a stud bolt is deformed or its threads are damaged, replace it.

      Using an E8 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the 2 stud bolts from the exhaust manifold assembly RH (TWC: Front Catalyst).

      Using an E8 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the 2 stud bolts from the exhaust manifold assembly LH (TWC: Front Catalyst).
