EXHAUST MANIFOLD REMOVAL

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization, or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed, installed, or replaced during the exhaust manifold sub-assembly LH (TWC: Front Catalyst) and exhaust manifold sub-assembly RH (TWC: Front Catalyst) removal/installation are shown below.

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY

  2. REMOVE CENTER NO. 2 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL (for Separate Console Box Type)

  3. REMOVE CENTER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL (for Separate Console Box Type)

  4. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX ASSEMBLY (for Separate Console Box Type)

  5. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY (for Separate Console Box Type)

  6. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (for Integrated Console Box Type)

    Click here

  7. DISCONNECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR CONNECTOR (for Bank 1)

  8. REMOVE FRONT NO. 3 EXHAUST PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY

    CAUTION:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust pipe or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

      Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor grommet from the vehicle body.

    2. Disengage the wire harness clamp.

      Remove the 4 bolts, 2 nuts and 2 compression springs and front No. 3 exhaust pipe sub-assembly.

    4. Remove the 3 exhaust pipe gaskets from the front No. 3 exhaust pipe sub-assembly.

  9. REMOVE MANIFOLD STAY

    CAUTION:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust manifold or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

      Remove the 2 bolts, nut and manifold stay from the exhaust manifold sub-assembly RH (TWC: Front Catalyst) and transverse engine mounting bracket.

  10. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (TWC: Front Catalyst)

    CAUTION:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust manifold or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

      Disconnect the air fuel ratio sensor (for Bank 1) connector.

    2. Disengage the 2 wire harness clamps.

      Using a 12 mm deep socket wrench, remove the 6 nuts and exhaust manifold sub-assembly RH (TWC: Front Catalyst) from the cylinder head sub-assembly RH.

  11. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD TO HEAD GASKET

      Remove the exhaust manifold to head gasket from the cylinder head sub-assembly RH.

  12. REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (for Bank 1)

  13. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST PIPE SUPPORT BRACKET (for Lower Side)

    CAUTION:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust pipe or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

      Remove the 2 bolts and No. 1 exhaust pipe support bracket.

  14. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY

    CAUTION:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust pipe or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

      Disengage the wire harness clamp.

    2. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor (for Bank 2) connector.

    3. B006KVA

      Remove the 2 nuts and front exhaust pipe assembly from the exhaust manifold sub-assembly LH (TWC: Front Catalyst).

    4. Remove the exhaust pipe gasket from the front exhaust pipe assembly.

  15. REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (for Bank 2)

  16. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE

  17. REMOVE NO. 2 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR

    CAUTION:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust manifold or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

      Remove the 3 bolts and No. 2 exhaust manifold heat insulator from the exhaust manifold sub-assembly LH (TWC: Front Catalyst).

  18. REMOVE NO. 2 MANIFOLD STAY

    CAUTION:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust manifold or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

      Remove the bolt, nut and No. 2 manifold stay from the exhaust manifold sub-assembly LH (TWC: Front Catalyst) and cylinder block sub-assembly.

  19. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (TWC: Front Catalyst)

    CAUTION:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust manifold or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

      Using a 12 mm deep socket wrench, remove the 6 nuts and exhaust manifold sub-assembly LH (TWC: Front Catalyst) from the cylinder head sub-assembly LH.

  20. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD TO HEAD GASKET LH

      Remove the exhaust manifold to head gasket LH from the cylinder head sub-assembly LH.
