LIN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM Rain Sensor LIN Communication Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

A malfunction occurs in LIN communication of the components related to the rain sensor between the rain sensor and windshield wiper relay assembly.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RAIN SENSOR - WINDSHIELD WIPER RELAY ASSEMBLY)


    1. Disconnect the I56 windshield wiper relay assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the T8 rain sensor connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I56-14 (MPX1) - T8-1 (MPX) Always Below 1 Ω
      I56-14 (MPX1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Proceed to

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WINDSHIELD WIPER RELAY ASSEMBLY - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)

    1. Disconnect the windshield wiper relay assembly connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I56-12 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      I56-2 (IG) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

  3. CHECK WINDSHIELD WIPER RELAY ASSEMBLY


    1. Temporarily replace the windshield wiper relay assembly with a new or normally functioning one.
