REAR VIEW MONITOR SYSTEM SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

  1. GENERAL

    1. This system has a rear television camera assembly mounted on the back door to assist the driver in parking the vehicle by displaying an image of the area behind the vehicle. The system displays the image on the radio receiver assembly.

    2. This system consists of the following components:

      1. Radio receiver assembly

      2. Multi-display assembly

      3. Rear television camera assembly

      4. ECM

  2. FUNCTION OF COMPONENTS

    1. The radio receiver assembly controls the system by using information from the following components:

      Components Function
      Rear television camera assembly
      • Captures the view behind the vehicle and transmits the image to the radio receiver assembly.

      • Has a color video camera that uses a Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) and wide-angle lens.

      Radio receiver assembly
      • Receives the video signals which contain an image of the area behind the vehicle taken with the rear television camera assembly.

      • Performs control of the system by receiving a shift position signal from the ECM.

      • Sends the rear view monitor image to the multi-display assembly.

Multi-display assembly Displays the rear view monitor image on the display panel.
ECM Transmits a reverse signal to the radio receiver assembly via the CAN communication line.
  3. OPERATION EXPLANATION

    1. The radio receiver assembly receives the reverse signal via the CAN communication line when the engine switch is on (IG) and the shift lever is moved to R. After receiving the reverse position signal, the radio receiver assembly switches to the rear view monitor system.
