STEERING WHEEL REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note


  • Do not replace the spiral with sensor cable sub-assembly with the battery connected and the engine switch on (IG).

  • Do not rotate the spiral with sensor cable sub-assembly when the following conditions are met: 1) The steering wheel is removed, 2) the battery is connected,and 3) the engine switch is on (IG).

  • Ensure that the steering wheel is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering sensor.

PROCEDURE


  1. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

  2. REMOVE STEERING PAD

  3. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY


    1. A01HDWL

      Disconnect the connectors from the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable.

    2. A01HFSF

      w/ Steering Heater:

      Disconnect the connector of steering heater control assembly from the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable.

      *a Matchmark

      Remove the steering wheel assembly set nut.

    4. Put matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and steering main shaft.

    5. B0057MBC02
      *a Hold
      *b Turn

      Using SST, remove the steering wheel assembly.

      SST
      09950-50013   ( 09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05021 )

      Note

      Apply a small amount of grease to the threads and tip of SST (09953-05020) before use.

  4. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY

  5. REMOVE STEERING SHAKE DAMPER

      Remove the 2 screws and steering shake damper from the steering wheel assembly.

  6. REMOVE CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH (w/ Cruise Control System)

  7. REMOVE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH WIRE (w/ Cruise Control System)


    1. Remove the cruise control switch wire from the cruise control main switch.

  8. REMOVE TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (w/ Shift Paddle Switch)

      Remove the 4 screws and transmission shift switch assembly.
