PROCEDURE


  1. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL (for Manual Tilt and Manual Telescopic Steering Column)

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL (for Power Tilt and Power Telescopic Steering Column)


    1. Disable the auto tilt away function by changing the customize parameter.

      Click here

      Note

      Record the current customize parameter setting (whether the auto tilt away function is enabled or disabled) in order to restore the current setting after finishing the operation.

      Tech Tips

      Performing the above operation causes the auto tilt away function to be disabled when the engine switch is turned off.

    2. Turn the engine switch to ON. Operate the tilt and telescopic switch to fully extend and lower the steering column assembly.

    3. Turn the engine switch off and disconnect the cable from the battery negative (-) terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected

  4. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER (for Manual Tilt and Manual Telescopic Steering Column)

    Note

    Removing the lower steering column cover in the incorrect order will cause the parts to break.


    1. Release the tilt and telescopic lever, and fully extend and lower the steering column assembly.

    2. Lock the tilt and telescopic lever.

      Turn the steering wheel assembly to the left and remove the screw.

      Turn the steering wheel assembly to the right and remove the screw.

      *b Claw <B>

      Insert your fingers into the opening of the tilt lever of the lower steering column cover to detach the claw <A>.

      Tech Tips

      Spread the claw to detach it.

    6. Push the lower steering column cover to detach the 2 claws <B> and 4 guides and remove the lower steering column cover.

  5. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER (for Power Tilt and Power Telescopic Steering Column)

    Note

    Removing the lower steering column cover in the incorrect order will cause the parts to break.

      Turn the steering wheel assembly to the left and remove the screw.

    2. B0059UD

      Turn the steering wheel assembly to the right and remove the screw.

    3. B0058QR

      Remove the screw.

    4. B0057VH

      Push the lower steering column cover to detach the 2 claws and 4 guides and remove the lower steering column cover.

  6. REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER

      Detach the 4 clips and 2 guides to separate the instrument cluster finish panel cover from the upper steering column cover.

    2. Detach the claw and remove the upper steering column cover.

  7. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY

      Disconnect each connector.

    2. B0057NRC01
      *1 Protective Tape

      Using a screwdriver, detach the claw and remove the windshield wiper switch assembly as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      If the claw is pulled with excessive force, it may break.

  8. REMOVE TILT AND TELESCOPIC SWITCH (for RHD, for Power Tilt and Power Telescopic Steering Column, for LH Side)

      Detach the claw and remove the tilt and telescopic switch from the windshield wiper switch assembly.
