TRAP CANISTER(w/ Canister Pump Module) REMOVAL

PROCEDURE

1. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER CENTER LH

   Click here

2. REMOVE TRAP CANISTER WITH CANISTER PUMP MODULE

   
   
   1. 

      *1	Fuel Vent Hose Sub-assembly (Air Inlet Line Hose)
      *a	Retainer
      *b	Pull Out

      Disconnect the fuel vent hose sub-assembly (air inlet line hose) from the charcoal canister assembly.

      
      

      1. Pinch the retainer and then raise it.

         Note

         
         

         • Do not use any tools in this procedure.

         • Check for any dirt and foreign matter contamination in the charcoal canister assembly and around the fuel vent hose sub-assembly (air inlet line hose). Clean if necessary. Foreign matter may damage the O-ring or cause leaks in the seal between the charcoal canister assembly and fuel vent hose sub-assembly (air inlet line hose).

   2. 

      *a	Retainer
      *b	Push
      *c	Pull Out

      Disconnect the air inlet line hose from the trap canister with canister pump module.

      
      

      1. Push in the retainer and pull out the air inlet line hose straight from the pipe.

         Note

         
         

         • Do not use any tools in this procedure.

         • Check for any dirt and foreign matter contamination in the trap canister and around the air inlet line hose. Clean if necessary. Foreign matter may damage the O-ring or cause leaks in the seal between the trap canister and air inlet line hose.

         • When disconnecting the air inlet line hose, make sure that the retainer is not lifted.

   3. Disconnect the canister pump module connector.

   4. Remove the bolt and trap canister with canister pump module.

3. REMOVE CANISTER PUMP MODULE

   
   

   1. Before removing the canister pump module, clean the trap canister with canister pump module by blowing air into it to ensure that the trap canister with canister pump module is free of foreign matter.

      Note

      
      

      • Make sure to clean the trap canister with canister pump module using only air.

      
      

      • Do not use gasoline, thinners or solvents.

   2. 

      *a	Protective Tape

      While disengaging the 2 claws as shown in the illustration, push the canister pump module upwards using a screwdriver to remove it.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

   3. 

      Check if the trap canister contains foreign matter such as mud or water.

      
      

      1. Visually check that the inside of the trap canister is free of foreign matter.

      2. Hold the trap canister upside down to make sure that the trap canister is free of foreign matter.

         If the trap canister contains foreign matter, replace the trap canister with canister pump module.
