DESCRIPTION

The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator circuit consists of the airbag ECU assembly and passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator (air conditioning control assembly).

The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator indicates the operation condition of the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly and lower No. 2 instrument panel airbag assembly.

DTC B1660/43 is stored when a malfunction is detected in the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator circuit.

PROCEDURE


  1. Click here

    CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CONDITION


    1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    2. Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator operation.

      Tip:

      Refer to the normal condition of the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator.

  2. Click here

    CHECK CONNECTORS


    1. Turn the engine switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the airbag ECU assembly, air conditioning control assembly and instrument panel junction block assembly.

      OK
      The connectors are properly connected.
      Tip:

      If the connectors are not properly connected, reconnect the connectors and proceed to the next inspection.

    4. Disconnect the connectors from the airbag ECU assembly, air conditioning control assembly and instrument panel junction block assembly.

    5. Check that the terminals of the connectors are not deformed or damaged.

      OK
      The terminals are not deformed or damaged.

    CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CONDITION


    1. Connect the connector to the air conditioning control assembly and instrument panel junction block assembly.

    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

    3. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    4. Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator operation.

      OK
      The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator does not come on.

      Turn the engine switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Connect the connector to the airbag ECU assembly.

    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

    5. Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

    6. Turn the engine switch off.

    7. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    4. Using a service wire, connect terminals 23 (PAON) and 17 (P-AB) of connector B.

      Note:

      Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
