PRECAUTION FOR DISCONNECTING CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
After the engine switch is turned off, the radio receiver assembly records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, make sure to wait at least 60 seconds before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
When disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, initialize the following systems after the terminal is reconnected.
| System Name | See Procedure |
|---|---|
| Parking Assist Monitor System | |
| Air Conditioning System |
PRECAUTION FOR NAVIGATION SYSTEM
If replacing any of the following parts, refer to Initialization of Repair Instruction.

PRECAUTIONS FOR RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY (w/ Sound Library Function)
A Hard Disk Drive (HDD) is built into the radio receiver assembly to store music data of sound library function. Therefore, care must be taken for the following points when handling:
When it is necessary to replace the radio receiver assembly, be sure to replace it with a new one.
If a used radio receiver assembly is installed as a replacement part, the customer's HDD will not be recognized.
Do not apply any vibration or shock to the radio receiver assembly.
Do not drop or subject the radio receiver assembly to severe impacts.
Do not use the radio receiver assembly if it has been dropped or subjected to severe impacts.
Do not store the radio receiver assembly without the HDD installed. (Only remove the HDD from the radio receiver assembly when a replacement radio receiver assembly or HDD is ready.)
Do not remove the radio receiver assembly if there is a risk that condensation may occur.
If the temperature of the radio receiver assembly changes rapidly, condensation may occur inside the unit. This may cause a malfunction of the HDD. Therefore, when the radio receiver assembly is removed from the instrument panel, it needs to be kept inside the vehicle or in an environment with an equivalent temperature and humidity.
Take measures to prevent static electricity.
Touching the terminals of a connector can cause static electricity to be transmitted to the internal circuits. This may cause a malfunction of the HDD.
Keep the radio receiver assembly away from magnets or magnetized items.
Keep the radio receiver assembly away from speakers, motors, magnetized tools and other magnetic items.
PRECAUTIONS FOR SD CARD (DISC PLAYER DISC)
The navigation system uses an SD card (disc player disc) containing data such as map data.
Precaution for removing the SD card (disc player disc)
The SD card (disc player disc) contains map data and various programs for the navigation system.
Without the SD card (disc player disc) inserted, the navigation system will not operate normally. Therefore, remove the SD card (disc player disc) only when necessary, such as when updating the map data.
After removing the SD card (disc player disc), do not insert any other object into the SD card (disc player disc) slot.
When inserting the SD card (disc player disc) into the SD card (disc player disc) slot, make sure that the SD card (disc player disc) is free of foreign matter.
After inserting the SD card (disc player disc), make sure that it is securely inserted into the SD card (disc player disc) slot.
Before removing the SD card (disc player disc), make sure that the engine switch is turned off.
Precaution for handling the SD card (disc player disc)
Do not touch the terminals with your hand or a metal object.
If a strong force is applied to the SD card (disc player disc), it may be damaged.
Do not leave the removed SD card (disc player disc) in any of the following environments. If the SD card (disc player disc) is affected adversely, it may result in a malfunction in the navigation system.
Places where static electricity or electronic noise is generated.
Places which are hot or humid.
Places where the SD card (disc player disc) may be exposed to direct sunlight.
Places where condensation occurs.
Places which are prone to corrosion.
Do not use the SD card (disc player disc) if the label has peeled off or someone has put a sticker or other label on the SD card (disc player disc).
PRECAUTIONS FOR HARD DISK DRIVE (HDD) (w/ Sound Library Function)
Music data of the sound library function is stored on the Hard Disk Drive (HDD). Make sure to follow the following instructions when replacing the HDD:
Data downloaded by the customer may be stored on the HDD. This data will be lost when the HDD is replaced. Make sure to warn the customer that their data will be lost and obtain their consent prior to replacing the HDD.
The HDD must only be replaced with a new one. Do not attempt to install a used HDD from another vehicle.
The radio receiver assembly can recognize only a new HDD.
| *a | Example |
| *b | Correct |
| *c | Incorrect |
Do not touch the HDD cover.
When removing or installing the HDD, only hold it by the areas shown in the illustration.
Do not apply any vibration or shock to the HDD.
Do not drop or subject the HDD to severe impacts.
Do not use the HDD if it has been dropped or subjected to severe impacts.
Do not store the HDD by itself if it has been removed from the radio receiver assembly. (Only remove the HDD from the radio receiver assembly when a replacement radio receiver assembly or HDD is ready.)
Do not remove the HDD if there is a risk that condensation may occur.
If the temperature of the HDD changes rapidly, condensation may occur inside the unit.
Keep the HDD away from magnets or magnetized items.
Keep the HDD away from speakers, motors, magnetized tools and other magnetic items.
Inspect after HDD replacement.
Make sure to perform Check Hard Disk Drive in Operation Check to confirm that there are no HDD abnormalities after removal or installation.
PRECAUTIONS FOR G-BOOK (w/ Telematics System)
The radio receiver assembly functions as the G-BOOK device and holds the G-BOOK ID.
When replacing the radio receiver assembly or telematics transceiver, perform Vehicle Contract Setting.
Necessary data for the telematics system is stored in the radio receiver assembly.
