FRONT BRAKE REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

PROCEDURE

1. Click here

   REMOVE FRONT WHEEL

   Click here

2. Click here

   DRAIN BRAKE FLUID

   Note:

   If brake fluid leaks onto any painted surface, immediately wash it off.

3. Click here

   REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD

   Note:

   Be sure to inspect the front disc when replacing the front disc brake pads with new ones.

   1. 

      Disconnect the pad wear indicator wire connector from the front skid control sensor wire.

   2. 

      Disconnect the pad wear indicator wire assembly from the clamp of front disc brake dust cover.

   3. Disconnect the bleeder plug cap portion of the pad wear indicator wire assembly from the front disc brake bleeder plug.

   4. 

      *a

      Ring

      Using SST and a hammer, disengage the ring of the pad guide pin (upper) and push out the pad guide pin (upper) from the front disc brake cylinder assembly.

      Note:
      

      • Keep SST aligned with the pad guide pin (upper).

      • Do not damage the surface of the front disc brake cylinder assembly.

   5. 

      While pushing the front disc brake anti-rattle spring (upper) as shown in the illustration, remove the pad guide pin (upper).

   6. Remove the front disc brake anti-rattle spring (upper) from the pad guide tie rod.

   7. 

      *a

      Ring

      Using SST and a hammer, disengage the ring of the pad guide pin (lower) and push out the pad guide pin (lower) from the front disc brake cylinder assembly.

      Note:
      

      • Keep SST aligned with the pad guide pin (lower).

      • Do not damage the surface of the front disc brake cylinder assembly.

   8. 

      While pushing the front disc brake anti-rattle spring (lower) as shown in the illustration, remove the pad guide pin (lower).

   9. Remove the front disc brake anti-rattle spring (lower) from the pad guide tie rod.

   10. 

       Remove the 2 bolts and 2 pad guide tie rods from the front disc brake cylinder assembly.

   11. 

       *a

       Notch

       Disengage the pad wear indicator wire assembly from the notch of the front disc brake cylinder assembly.

   12. Remove the 2 front disc brake pads from the front disc brake cylinder assembly.

   13. 

       Remove the pad wear indicator retainer and pad wear indicator wire assembly from the front disc brake pad.

4. Click here

   REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM KIT

   
   

   1. Remove the front disc brake anti-squeal shim from each front disc brake pad.

5. Click here

   DISCONNECT FRONT FLEXIBLE HOSE

   
   
   1. 

      Remove the union bolt and gasket, and disconnect the front flexible hose from the front disc brake cylinder assembly.

6. Click here

   REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY

   
   
   1. 

      Remove the 2 bolts and front disc brake cylinder assembly from the steering knuckle.

7. Click here

   REMOVE FRONT DISC

   
   
   1. 

      *a

      Matchmark

      Put matchmarks on the front disc and the front axle hub sub-assembly.

   2. Remove the front disc.
