MONITOR DESCRIPTION

When an open or short in the shift solenoid valve SLT circuit is detected, the TCM determines that there is a malfunction.

The TCM will illuminate the MIL and store this DTC.

Tech Tips

After the repair, clear the DTCs and perform the following procedure to check that DTCs are not output.


  1. Start the engine.

  2. Check for DTCs again.

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION WIRE (SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SLT) - TCM)

      Disconnect the F8 TCM connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F8-1 (SLT+) - F8-7 (SLT-) 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 Ω
      F8-1 (SLT+) or F8-7 (SLT-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  2. REPLACE TCM


    1. Replace the TCM.

    1. Disconnect the F25 transmission wire connector.

    2. Disconnect the F8 TCM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      F25-3 (SLT+) - F8-1 (SLT+) Always Below 1 Ω
      F25-4 (SLT-) - F8-7 (SLT-) Always Below 1 Ω

      Remove the shift solenoid valve SLT.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Terminal 1 of the shift solenoid valve SLT - terminal 2 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 Ω
    3. Connect a positive (+) lead from the battery with a 21 W bulb to terminal 2 and a negative (-) lead to terminal 1 of the solenoid valve connector. Check that the valve moves and makes an operating sound.
