DESCRIPTION

The TCM controls the lock-up solenoid using a predetermined duty ratio*, and performs lock-up and flex lock-up control.

Tip:

*: The duty ratio is the ratio of the current ON time (A) to the total of the current ON and OFF time (A + B).

Duty Ratio (%) = A / (A + B) x 100

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

When an open or short in a shift solenoid valve SLU circuit is detected, the TCM determines that there is a malfunction. The TCM will illuminate the MIL and store this DTC.

Perform registration and/or initialization when parts related to the automatic transmission are replaced.

Tip:

After the repair, clear the DTCs and perform the following procedure to check that DTCs are not output.

    CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION WIRE (SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SLU) - TCM)

      (to TCM)

      Disconnect the F8 TCM connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F8-2 (SLU+) - F8-8 (SLU-) 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 Ω
      F8-2 (SLU+) or F8-8 (SLU-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    1. Replace the TCM.

    2. Disconnect the F8 TCM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Remove the shift solenoid valve SLU.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Terminal 1 of the shift solenoid valve SLU - terminal 2 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 Ω
    3. Connect a positive (+) lead from the battery with a 21 W bulb to terminal 2 and a negative (-) lead to terminal 1 of the solenoid valve connector. Check that the valve moves and makes an operating sound.
