VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM VSC OFF Switch Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) is connected to the combination meter assembly via CAN communication.

Pressing the VSC OFF switch (combination switch assembly) turns off TRC operation, and pressing and holding this switch turns off TRC and VSC operation. If TRC and VSC operations are turned off, the TRC OFF indicator light and the VSC OFF indicator light will come on.

Pressing the VSC OFF switch (combination switch assembly) when in SPORT S+ mode changes the mode to EXPERT mode*. In EXPERT mode, the TRC OFF indicator light and VSC OFF indicator light illuminate and EXPERT is displayed on the multi-information display.

Tech Tips

*: EXPERT mode performs control to help prevent the vehicle from spinning during oversteer maneuvers.

    1. Check if CAN communication system DTCs are output.

  3. READ VALUE USING GTS (TRC/VSC OFF MODE)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Select the Data List using the GTS.

  4. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING GTS (TRC OFF INDICATOR LIGHT AND VSC OFF INDICATOR LIGHT)


    1. Select the Active Test on the GTS.

  5. INSPECT COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY

    2. Disconnect the O78 VSC OFF switch (combination switch assembly) connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY - COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY)


    1. Disconnect the A86 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A86-33 (CSW) - O78-1 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
      A86-33 (CSW) or O78-1 (+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      O78-16 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    2. Perform an Active Test of the combination meter assembly using the GTS.
