Note

The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) must be input into a replacement ECM.

Tech Tips


  • When the ECM must be replaced, before replacing the ECM, perform the "GPF Deposition Values Save" function using the GTS. Then after installing the new ECM, perform all of the initialization/registrations for the "GPF Deposition Values Write" function by following the instructions shown on the GTS display.

  • After replacing the front exhaust pipe assembly, perform the "GPF Deposition Value Clear" function using the GTS. If the front exhaust pipe assembly and the ECM are replaced at the same time, perform the same initialization/registrations as when replacing the ECM.

PROCEDURE


  1. DESCRIPTION

    Tech Tips

    This registration section consists of 2 parts: Read VIN and Write VIN.


    1. Read VIN: This process allows the VIN stored in the ECM to be read in order to confirm that the 2 VINs, provided with the vehicle and stored in the vehicle ECM, are the same.

    2. Write VIN: This process allows the VIN to be input into the ECM. If the ECM is replaced, or the ECM VIN and vehicle VIN do not match, the VIN can be registered, or overwritten in the ECM by following this procedure.

  2. READ VIN


    1. Confirm the vehicle VIN.

    2. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    3. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    4. Turn the GTS on.

    5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / VIN / VIN Read.


      Powertrain > Engine > Utility
      Tester Display
      VIN

  3. WRITE VIN


    1. Confirm the vehicle VIN.

    2. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    3. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    4. Turn the GTS on.

    5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / VIN / VIN Write.


      Powertrain > Engine > Utility
      Tester Display
      VIN

  4. GPF DEPOSITION VALUE SAVE


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / GPF Depention Values Save.


      Powertrain > Engine > Utility
      Tester Display
      GPF Deposition Values Save

  5. GPF DEPOSITION VALUE WRITE

    Tech Tips

    This function is used for writing the saved data from the GTS to the ECM.


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / GPF Depention Values Write.
