STOP LIGHT SWITCH ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (w/ Canister Pump Module)

   
   

   1. Disconnect the A46 stop light switch assembly connector.

   2. Measure the voltage and resistance on the wire harness side connector according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition A46-1 (B) - A46-3 (GND) Always 11 to 14 V A46-5 (B) - A46-3 (GND) Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition A46-3 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      If the result is not as specified, repair or replace the wire harness or connector.

   3. 

      *a	Component with harness connected (Stop Light Switch Assembly)

      Reconnect the A46 stop light switch assembly connector.

   4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition A46-2 (L) - A46-3 (GND) Brake pedal not depressed Below 1 V A46-2 (L) - A46-3 (GND) Brake pedal depressed 11 to 14 V A46-4 (L) - A46-3 (GND) Power switch on (IG), brake pedal not depressed 11 to 14 V A46-4 (L) - A46-3 (GND) Power switch on (IG), brake pedal depressed Below 1 V

      If the result is not as specified, replace the stop light switch assembly.

2. INSPECT STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (w/o Canister Pump Module)

   
   

   1. Disconnect the A47 stop light switch assembly connector.

   2. Measure the voltage and resistance on the wire harness side connector according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition A47-7 (B) - A47-2 (GND) Power switch off 11 to 14 V A47-6 (B) - A47-2 (GND) Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition A47-2 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      If the result is not as specified, repair or replace the wire harness or connector.

   3. 

      *a	Component with harness connected (Stop Light Switch Assembly)

      Reconnect the A47 stop light switch assembly connector.

   4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition A47- 1 (OUT) - A47-2 (GND) Power switch off, brake pedal not depressed Below 1 V A47-1 (OUT) - A47-2 (GND) Power switch off, brake pedal depressed 11 to 14 V A47-3 (L) - A47-2 (GND) Power switch off, brake pedal not depressed Below 1 V A47-3 (L) - A47-2 (GND) Power switch off, brake pedal depressed 11 to 14 V A47-4 (ACC) - A47-2 (GND) Power switch off 11 to 14 V A47-5 (L) - A47-2 (GND) Power switch on (IG), brake pedal not depressed 11 to 14 V A47-5 (L) - A47-2 (GND) Power switch on (IG), brake pedal depressed Below 1 V

      If the result is not as specified, replace the stop light switch assembly.
