METER / GAUGE SYSTEM Operating Light Control Rheostat does not Change Light Brightness

DESCRIPTION

The combination meter assembly (meter circuit plate) receives signals from this circuit to adjust the illumination of the combination meter assembly (meter circuit plate). The combination meter assembly (meter circuit plate) sets the illumination level based on the operation of the light control rheostat switch in the combination switch assembly.

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Tech Tips


  • The meter illumination level can be adjusted by pressing the light control rheostat switch (combination switch assembly).


  • The meter illumination dims when the taillights are turned on.


  • Setting the meter illumination level to maximum brightness cancels the above dimming of the meter illumination.

PROCEDURE


  1. READ VALUE USING GTS (LIGHT CONTROL UP SWITCH, LIGHT CONTROL DOWN SWITCH)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List.

    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the GTS.

  2. INSPECT LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT SWITCH (COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY)


    1. Remove the light control rheostat switch (combination switch assembly).

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY (METER CIRCUIT PLATE) - LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT SWITCH (COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY))


    1. Disconnect the F6 combination meter assembly (meter circuit plate) connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F6-24 (TR) - F12-8 (RV) Always Below 1 Ω
      F12-6 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      F6-24 (TR) or F12-8 (RV) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
