Tech Tips

*: Data List name

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

This DTC is designed to detect a deviation in the output characteristics of a pressure sensor.

The pressure of the canister pressure sensor and manifold absolute pressure sensor is monitored 50 minutes after the power switch is turned off. If there is a difference in the pressures, the ECM determines there is a malfunction, illuminates the MIL and stores a DTC.

Tech Tips

Correct judgment may not be possible when the altitude is 4000 m (13124 ft.) or higher.

CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN

  1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

  2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

  3. Turn the GTS on.

  4. Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure).

  5. Turn the power switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.

  6. Turn the power switch on (IG).

  7. Turn the GTS on.

  8. Put the engine in Inspection Mode (Maintenance Mode).

  9. Start the engine and idle for 10 seconds or more [A].

  10. Turn the power switch off.

  11. Leave the power switch off for 55 minutes [B].

  12. Turn the power switch on (IG).

  13. Turn the GTS on.

  14. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes [C].

  15. Read the pending DTCs.

    Tech Tips

    • If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.

    • If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.

  16. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / All Readiness.

  17. Input the DTC: P106A62.

  18. Check the DTC judgment result.

    GTS Display Description
    NORMAL
    • DTC judgment completed

    • System normal

    ABNORMAL
    • DTC judgment completed

    • System abnormal

    INCOMPLETE
    • DTC judgment not completed

    • Perform driving pattern after confirming DTC enabling conditions

    N/A
    • Unable to perform DTC judgment

    • Number of DTCs which do not fulfill DTC preconditions has reached ECU memory limit

    Tech Tips

    • If the judgment result is NORMAL, the system is normal.

    • If the judgment result is ABNORMAL, the system is malfunctioning.

    • If the judgment result is INCOMPLETE or N/A, perform steps [A] through [C] again.

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Tech Tips

  • Refer to "Data List / Active Test" [Intake Manifold Absolute Pressure and Vapor Pressure Pump].

  • Read freeze frame data using the GTS. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P106A62)

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.

    5. Read the DTCs.

Powertrain > Engine > Trouble Codes
      Result
      Result Proceed to
      DTC P106A62 is output A
DTC P106A62 and other DTCs are output B

      Tech Tips

If any DTCs other than P106A62 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

  2. READ VALUE USING GTS (INTAKE MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE AND VAPOR PRESSURE PUMP)

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Intake Manifold Absolute Pressure and Vapor Pressure Pump.

Powertrain > Engine > Data List
      Tester Display
      Intake Manifold Absolute Pressure
      Vapor Pressure Pump
    5. Compare the Intake Manifold Absolute Pressure and Vapor Pressure Pump data from the Data List with day's atmospheric pressure*. Read the Data List twice, when the engine is both cold and warmed up.

      Tech Tips

      • *: Standard atmospheric pressure is 101 kPa(abs) [15 psi(abs)]. For every 100 m (328 ft.) increase in altitude, pressure drops by 1 kPa (0.1 psi). The pressure also varies due to the weather (high atmospheric pressure, low atmospheric pressure).

      • Also, check Atmosphere Pressure in the Data List.

      • If you do not know the atmospheric pressure, check the value of Vapor Pressure Pump output by other vehicles in the workshop and check the difference in pressure.

      Result
      Result Proceed to
The difference between the value of Vapor Pressure Pump and atmospheric pressure is 3.5 kPa or more A
The difference between the value of Intake Manifold Absolute Pressure and atmospheric pressure is 3.5 kPa or more B

      Tech Tips

      3.5 kPa = 0.5 psi
