AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHT BEAM LEVEL CONTROL
General
for Single Beam Headlight:
This system maintains the low beam headlights at a constant level while the vehicle is stopping.
This system is controlled by the headlight ECU sub-assembly. The headlight ECU sub-assembly detects the vehicle posture via the rear height control sensor sub-assembly LH, and detects the vehicle speed via the combination meter assembly. The headlight ECU sub-assembly controls each headlight leveling motor based on this information in order to change the headlight reflector angle.
for Triple Beam Headlight:
The automatic headlight beam level control system ensures forward visibility and prevents dazzling of drivers in oncoming and preceding vehicles by controlling the headlight beam level vertically when the weight of passengers and loads has caused the vehicle attitude to change.
Note
A new headlight ECU sub-assembly LH cannot operate until it is initialized.
Even if the headlight ECU sub-assembly RH is replaced with a new one, initialization is not necessary.
Initialize the headlight ECU sub-assembly LH (set the zero point of the height control sensor in the headlight ECU sub-assembly LH) after the vehicle height changes due to replacement of suspension components or after performing such operations as removal and reinstallation or replacement of the rear height control sensor sub-assembly LH.
Function of Main Components
| Component | Outline |
|---|---|
| Headlight ECU Sub-assembly | Receives various signals, calculates changes in the vehicle posture, and actuates the headlight leveling motor. |
| Headlight Leveling Motor | Based on the signals received from the headlight ECU sub-assembly, the motors move the reflectors in the headlight to vary the low beam. |
| Rear Height Control Sensor Sub-assembly LH | Transmits a height control sensor signal to the headlight ECU sub-assembly. |
| Brake Booster with Master Cylinder Assembly (Skid Control ECU) | Transmits speed sensor signals to the headlight ECU sub-assembly. |
| Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU | Transmits a READY condition signal to the headlight ECU sub-assembly. |
| Main Body ECU (Multiplex Network Body ECU) | Transmits a headlight status signal. |
| Combination Meter Assembly | If the system malfunctions, "Headlight System Malfunction Visit Your Dealer" will be displayed on the multi-information display in the combination meter assembly in accordance with the signal from the headlight ECU sub-assembly LH. |
