WINDSHIELD DEICER SWITCH(w/ Heated Windshield Defroster System) INSPECTION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT NO. 2 COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY (WINDSHIELD DEICER SWITCH)

      Component without harness connected

      (No. 2 Combination Switch Assembly (Windshield Deicer Switch))

      Check the switch function.


      1. Measure the resistance when the switch is operated according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance
        Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
        7 (IG) - 19 (E) Windshield deicer switch is pushed Below 1 Ω
        Windshield deicer switch is not pushed 10 kΩ or higher

        If the result is not as specified, replace the No. 2 combination switch assembly (windshield deicer switch).

    2. Check that the LED illuminates.


      1. Apply battery voltage to the No. 2 combination switch assembly (windshield deicer switch) and check that the LED illuminates.

        OK
        Measurement Condition Specified Condition

        Battery positive (+) → 8 (ILL+)

        Battery negative (-) → 15 (ILL-)

        		 LED illuminates

        If the result is not as specified, replace the No. 2 combination switch assembly (windshield deicer switch).

      2. Apply battery voltage to the No. 2 combination switch assembly (windshield deicer switch) and check that the indicator.

        Standard Resistance
        Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition

        Battery positive (+) → 7 (IG)

        Battery negative (-) → 20 (D)

        		 Windshield deicer switch is pushed Indicator illuminates
        Windshield deicer switch is not pushed

        If the result is not as specified, replace the No. 2 combination switch assembly (windshield deicer switch).
