FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY REMOVAL

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE NO. 3 DECK BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Spare Tire)

  2. REMOVE REAR DECK FLOOR BOX (w/ Spare Tire)

  3. REMOVE DECK FLOOR BOX LH (w/ Spare Tire)

  4. PRECAUTION

    CAUTION:

    Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing.

    Note

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the auxiliary battery negative (-) terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the auxiliary battery negative (-) terminal notice before proceeding with work.

  5. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the auxiliary battery negative (-) terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

    1. B002JPC

      w/o Spare Tire:

      Detach the 2 claws and remove the battery service cover.

    2. Loosen the nut and disconnect the auxiliary battery negative (-) terminal.

  6. REMOVE UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL

  7. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE


    1. Using a screwdriver, pull up and release the connector lock and disconnect the airbag connector.

      Tech Tips


      • Use the same procedure to disconnect the airbag connector on the other side.

      • Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

      Detach the 2 wire harness clamps and remove the No. 2 instrument panel wire.

      CAUTION:

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

  8. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

    CAUTION:

    When storing the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.

      *A Front of the Vehicle
      *B Rear of the Vehicle

      Remove the 2 screws.

    2. Insert moulding remover B into the side of the airbag door facing the front of the vehicle and bend moulding remover B to detach the 3 hooks.

    3. Pull the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly in the direction indicated by the arrow shown in the illustration to detach the 3 hooks on the side of the airbag door facing the rear of the vehicle and remove the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly.
