ENTRY AND START SYSTEM(for Entry Function) Entry Unlock and Unlatch Functions do not Operate Using Kick Sensor

DESCRIPTION

If the hands free power back door operation does not operate, it could indicate the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) did not transmit a power back door open request signal, or a malfunction in the power back door system.

Note


  • The entry and start system (for Entry Function) uses the LIN communication system and CAN communication system. Inspect the communication function by following How to Proceed with Troubleshooting. Troubleshoot the entry and start system (for Entry Function) after confirming that the communication systems are functioning properly.

  • When using the GTS with the power switch off, connect the GTS to the DLC3 and turn a courtesy light switch on and off at intervals of 1.5 seconds or less until communication between the GTS and the vehicle begins. Then select Model Code "KEY REGIST" under manual mode and enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Entry&Start(CAN). While using the GTS, periodically turn a courtesy light switch on and off at intervals of 1.5 seconds or less to maintain communication between the GTS and the vehicle.

  • After repair, confirm that no DTCs are output by performing the "DTC Output Confirmation Operation".

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK CUSTOMIZE SETTING (KICK SENSOR FUNCTION)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Customize Setting / PSD & PBD operation.


      PSD & PBD operation

      Kick Sensor Function Function that enables/disables the touchless power back door. ON 0:OFF,1:ON Multiplex network door ECU

  2. CHECK OPERATION HISTORY


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Entry&Start / Utility / Operation History.

      Kick Sensor Open Request Signal. The multiplex network door ECU receives kick detection signals from the kick door control sensor and sends certification requests to the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly). If certification is OK, an open permission is sent to the multiplex network door ECU.

    1. While carrying the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly, check that the entry unlock function operates when the back door opener switch is operated.
