DESCRIPTION

The vehicle stability control system receives intelligent clearance sonar system information from the clearance warning ECU assembly via CAN communication. When it is determined that there is a communication error between the brake booster with master cylinder assembly (skid control ECU) and clearance warning ECU assembly, DTC C164B is stored.

Note


  • After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

  • After replacing an ultrasonic sensor or the clearance warning ECU assembly, perform the necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization or registration).

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK FOR DTC


    1. Using the GTS, check for DTCs according to the prompts on the screen.

      Tech Tips

      After turning the power switch from off to on (IG), wait 4 seconds or more before checking for DTCs.


      Body Electrical > IPA/ICS/Clearance Sonar > Trouble Codes

    2. Clear the DTCs according to the screen on the GTS.


      Body Electrical > IPA/ICS/Clearance Sonar > Clear DTCs

    3. Recheck for DTCs.

      Tech Tips


      • If DTC C164B is not output after clearing the DTCs, an intermittent communication error between the clearance warning ECU assembly and brake booster with master cylinder assembly (skid control ECU) is suspected.

      • If DTC C164B is output frequently, duplicate the conditions that cause the problem symptoms and perform the inspection again, even though the DTC was not output when rechecking for DTCs.

    1. Using the GTS, check for DTCs according to the prompts on the screen.

  4. CHECK FOR DTC
