AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHT BEAM LEVEL CONTROL SYSTEM FAIL-SAFE CHART

  1. Automatic Headlight Beam Level Control System

If the headlight leveling ECU assembly detects a malfunction in the automatic headlight beam level control system, it will indicate the malfunction and perform fail-safe control as indicated in the table below.

Item Abnormality Detection Condition Fail-safe Control DTC Output Warning Display Return Condition
Headlight leveling motor high input voltage High input voltage (more than 18.5 V) is detected. Headlight leveling motor is stopped. - - Normal input voltage (below 17.5 V) is detected.
Headlight leveling motor low input voltage Low input voltage (below 9 V) is detected. Headlight leveling motor is stopped. - - Normal input voltage (more than 9.3 V) is detected.
Height control sensor abnormal input voltage Abnormal input voltage (below 4.60 V, more than 6.25 V) is detected. Headlight leveling motor is stopped. B2416 "CHECK HEADLIGHT SYSTEM"*1 or "Check Headlight System"*2 is displayed Normal input voltage (4.61 to 6.24 V) is detected.
Height control sensor abnormal signal voltage

    Abnormal signal voltage is detected.

    • A height control sensor input voltage of 95% or more of the power source voltage is detected for 1 second.

    • A height control sensor input voltage of 5% or less of the power source voltage is detected for 1 second.

Headlight leveling motor is stopped. B241A "CHECK HEADLIGHT SYSTEM"*1 or "Check Headlight System"*2 is displayed

    Normal signal voltage is detected.

    • A height control sensor input voltage of below 95% of the power source voltage is detected for 1 second.

    • A height control sensor input voltage of more than 5% of the power source voltage is detected for 1 second.

Speed sensor abnormal signal Abnormal wheel speed sensor signal
    • If either of the front wheel speed signals is abnormal, control continues using the normal signal.

    • If both of the front wheel speed signals are abnormal, judgment is performed as though the vehicle is stationary and control continues.

B2415 - Normal signal is detected.
CAN communication (skid control ECU) Skid control ECU communication error (vehicle speed signal)
    • If the leveling motor is not actuating, stops the abnormal headlight leveling motor at the current position.

    • If the leveling motor is actuating, stops the abnormal headlight leveling motor after actuating for 17 seconds.

U0129 - Normal signal is detected.
CAN communication (main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU)) Main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) communication error (headlight signal)
    • If the leveling motor is not actuating, stops the abnormal headlight leveling motor at the current position.

    • If the leveling motor is actuating, stops the abnormal headlight leveling motor after actuating for 17 seconds.

U0142 - Normal signal is detected.
Main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) communication error (destination information, VAST request, time stamp) -
CAN communication (ECM) ECM communication error (power source signal, transmission information) - U0100 - Headlight leveling ECU assembly is replaced.
CAN communication (Headlight leveling ECU) Headlight leveling ECU internal error System does not perform control. U1000 - Headlight leveling ECU assembly is replaced.
ROM error Stored data broken is detected. System does not perform control. B2420 "CHECK HEADLIGHT SYSTEM"*1 or "Check Headlight System"*2 is displayed Headlight leveling ECU assembly is replaced.
Invalid data (destination information) Invalid destination information is detected. System does not perform control. B2453 "CHECK HEADLIGHT SYSTEM"*1 or "Check Headlight System"*2 is displayed Synchronization is completed.
Invalid data (initialization of height control sensor) Abnormal height sensor data at initialization System does not perform control. B2452 "CHECK HEADLIGHT SYSTEM"*1 or "Check Headlight System"*2 is displayed Initialization is completed after ignition switch off to ON.
