WIPER SWITCH ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (w/ Auto Wiper System)

   
   

   1. Check the front washer operation (for LHD).

      
      
      1. 

         *a	Component with harness connected (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

         Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal F64-3 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal F65-4 (EW).

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Turn the washer switch on and off, and check the voltage between terminals F64-3 (+1) and F65-4 (EW).

         OK
         Voltage changes as shown in the illustration.

         

         If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

   2. Check the front washer operation (for RHD).

      
      
      1. 

         *a	Component with harness connected (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

         Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal F64-2 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal F65-4 (EW).

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Turn the washer switch on and off, and check the voltage between terminals F64-2 (+1) and F65-4 (EW).

         OK
         Voltage changes as shown in the illustration.

         

         If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

2. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (w/o Auto Wiper System)

   
   

   1. Check the front wiper intermittent operation (for LHD).

      
      
      1. 

         *a	Component with harness connected (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

         Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal F64-3 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal F65-4 (EW).

      2. Turn the wiper switch to the INT position.

      3. Operate the intermittent wiper and check the voltage between terminals F64-3 (+1) and F65-4 (EW).

         OK
         Voltage changes as shown in the illustration.

         

         If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

   2. Check the front washer operation (for LHD).

      
      
      1. 

         *a	Component with harness connected (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

         Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal F64-3 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal F65-4 (EW).

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Turn the washer switch on and off, and check the voltage between terminals F64-3 (+1) and F65-4 (EW).

         OK
         Voltage changes as shown in the following illustration.

         

         If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

   3. Check the front wiper intermittent operation (for RHD).

      
      
      1. 

         *a	Component with harness connected (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

         Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal F64-2 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal F65-7 (EW).

      2. Turn the wiper switch to the INT position.

      3. Operate the intermittent wiper and check the voltage between terminals F64-2 (+1) and F65-7 (EW).

         OK
         Voltage changes as shown in the illustration.

         

         If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

   4. Check the front washer operation (for RHD).

      
      
      1. 

         *a	Component with harness connected (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

         Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal F64-2 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal F65-7 (EW).

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Turn the washer switch on and off, and check the voltage between terminals F64-2 (+1) and F65-7 (EW).

         OK
         Voltage changes as shown in the following illustration.

         

         If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.
