DESCRIPTION

The windshield wiper relay assembly controls the windshield wiper motor assembly.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY - IG CIRCUIT)


    1. Disconnect the A32 windshield wiper motor assembly connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A32-2 (B) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND)


    1. for LHD:


      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        A32-4 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    2. for RHD:


      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  3. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY

      for LHD:


      1. Remove the windshield wiper motor assembly.

        Click here

      2. Check the LO operation.

        Connect a battery positive (+) lead to terminal 5 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal 4 (E), and check that the motor operates at low speed.

        OK
        Motor operates at low speed (LO).
      3. Check the HI operation.

        Connect a battery positive (+) lead to terminal 3 (+2) and a negative (-) lead to terminal 4 (E), and check that the motor operates at high speed.

        OK
        Motor operates at high speed (HI).

      for RHD:


      1. Remove the windshield wiper motor assembly.

      2. Check the LO operation.

        Connect a battery positive (+) lead to terminal 1 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal 5 (E), and check that the motor operates at low speed.

      3. Check the HI operation.

        Connect a battery positive (+) lead to terminal 4 (+2) and a negative (-) lead to terminal 5 (E), and check that the motor operates at high speed.

      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        A32-1 (+S) or F79-1 (+SM) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    2. for RHD:


      1. Disconnect the F79 windshield wiper relay assembly connector.

      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        A32-3 (+S) - F79-1 (+SM) Always Below 1 Ω
        A32-3 (+S) or F79-1 (+SM) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    2. for RHD:


      1. Disconnect the F64 windshield wiper switch assembly connector.

      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        A32-4 (+2) - F79-11 (+2) Always Below 1 Ω
        A32-4 (+2) or F79-11 (+2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
