Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  • The following procedure is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL BACK WINDOW STAY BOLT


    1. Clean the bolt hole on the vehicle body with a non-residue solvent.

    2. Apply adhesive to the threads of the back window stay bolt.

      Adhesive
      Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent
    3. Install the back window stay bolt.

      Torque:
      22 N*m  { 224 kgf*cm, 16 ft.*lbf }
  2. INSTALL BACK DOOR GLASS GUIDE UPPER BRACKET


    1. Clean the bolt holes on the vehicle body with a non-residue solvent.

    2. Apply adhesive to the threads of the 2 screws.

      Adhesive
      Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent
    3. Install the back door glass guide upper bracket with the 2 screws.

      Torque:
      6.0 N*m  { 61 kgf*cm, 53 in.*lbf }
  3. INSTALL REAR SPOILER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  4. INSTALL BACK WINDOW STAY ASSEMBLY

    Note


    • Avoid touching the piston rod as much as possible to prevent foreign matter from attaching to it. Be sure to hold the cylinder while servicing.

    • Do not wear cotton gloves or other similar materials when handling the piston rod. Fibers may attach to the rod and result in gas leaks.

    • Do not apply any horizontal load to the back window stay assembly in order to prevent the piston rod from deforming.


    1. When reusing the back window stay assembly:


      1. A018L96

        Install the 2 stop rings to the back window stay assembly.

    2. A018JAI

      Install the back window stay assembly.

      Note

      Install the back window stay assembly while supporting the back door glass by hand.

    3. Check that the back window stay assembly is engaged to the ball joints and that the back window stay assembly cannot be pulled out.
