POWER BACK DOOR SYSTEM Power Back Door cannot be Opened or Closed Using the Back Door Control Switch

DESCRIPTION

When the power back door cannot be opened or closed using the back door control switch, either of the following may be malfunctioning: 1) back door control switch circuit or 2) multiplex network door ECU.

PROCEDURE


  1. READ VALUE USING GTS


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Back Door / Data List.

    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the GTS.


      Body Electrical > Back Door > Data List
      Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      PBD Close SW Back door control switch signal ON or OFF

      ON: Back door control switch pushed

      OFF: Back door control switch not pushed

      On the GTS screen, ON or OFF is displayed accordingly.

  2. INSPECT BACK DOOR CONTROL SWITCH


    1. Remove the back door control switch.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK DOOR CONTROL SWITCH - MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU AND BODY GROUND)


    1. Disconnect the X20 back door control switch connector.

    2. Disconnect the X6 multiplex network door ECU connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      X20-4 (CLS) - X6-6 (BDDN) Always Below 1 Ω
      X20-1 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      X20-4 (CLS) or X6-6 (BDDN) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
