PRECAUTION FOR DISCONNECTING CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
Note
When disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, initialize the following system(s) after the cable is reconnected:
| System | See Procedure |
|---|---|
| Parking Assist Monitor System | |
| Power Door Lock Control System | |
| Air Conditioning System (for Automatic Air Conditioning System) | |
| Air Conditioning System (for Manual Air Conditioning System) | |
| Power Back Door System |
PRECAUTIONS WHEN CHECKING FOR DTCS
When the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal, the DTCs stored in the steering lock ECU (steering lock actuator assembly) are cleared. Be sure to record any output DTCs immediately.
Normally, with the engine switch off, even if the GTS is connected to the vehicle, the information stored in the smart entry and start system related ECUs (the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly), main body ECU, etc.) cannot be read. However, smart entry and start system DTCs and Data List information can be confirmed even if the engine switch is off using either of the two methods below:
Connect the GTS to the vehicle and turn a courtesy light switch on and off at intervals of 1.5 seconds or less until communication between the GTS and the vehicle begins (the GTS screen changes when communication begins).
Connect the GTS to the vehicle and select the Model Code "KEY REGIST" under manual mode and enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Entry & Start(CAN).
PRECAUTIONS WHEN REPLACING STEERING LOCK ECU (STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY)
If the steering lock ECU (steering lock actuator assembly) is replaced, be sure to confirm that the steering is unlocked by turning the steering wheel to the left and right before starting the engine. If the steering is locked for any reason, open and close a door with the engine switch off, and then unlock the steering lock by pressing the engine switch. This prevents the engine from starting while the steering is locked.
PRECAUTION FOR REGISTRATION
If replacing any of the following parts, refer to Service Bulletin.
Certification ECU (Smart key ECU assembly)
Steering lock ECU (Steering lock actuator assembly)
ID code box (Immobiliser code ECU)*
Main body ECU (Multiplex network body ECU)
Electrical key transmitter sub-assembly
ECM
*: w/ Rear Seat Heater
PRECAUTIONS FOR STEERING LOCK / UNLOCK FUNCTION
After turning the engine switch off and opening and closing any of the doors, the steering wheel will be locked due to the steering lock function. Operating the engine switch again automatically cancels the steering lock function.
To prevent the steering lock motor from overheating, the motor operation may be suspended if the steering is locked and unlocked repeatedly in a short period of time. In this case, refrain from operating the engine switch. After about 10 seconds, the steering lock motor will resume functioning.
