Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

Note
After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.
DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
Note
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.
REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SEAT ASSEMBLY
REMOVE REAR FLOOR FINISH PLATE
REMOVE REAR OUTER SEAT TRACK BRACKET COVER

DISCONNECT REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP
Tech Tips
Disconnect the rear door opening trim weatherstrip to the extent that allows the removal of the deck trim side panel assembly.

DISCONNECT REAR NO. 1 SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY
REMOVE NO. 2 DECK SIDE TRIM COVER (for LH Side)
REMOVE NO. 1 DECK SIDE TRIM COVER (for RH Side)
DISCONNECT REAR NO. 2 SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY
REMOVE SIDE TRIM COVER RH (w/o Rear Automatic Air Conditioning System)
REMOVE COOLER (NO. 2 ROOM TEMP. SENSOR) THERMISTOR (w/ Rear Automatic Air Conditioning System)
REMOVE NO. 1 LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LIGHT ASSEMBLY (for RH Side)
REMOVE DECK TRIM POCKET COVER
REMOVE NO. 1 LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM HOOK
REMOVE ROPE HOOK
REMOVE DECK TRIM SIDE PANEL ASSEMBLY LH (for LH Side)
REMOVE DECK TRIM SIDE PANEL ASSEMBLY RH (for RH Side)
REMOVE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR
Check that the ignition switch is off.
Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
Disconnect the connector from the rear airbag sensor.
Note
When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
Push down the white housing lock and slide the yellow CPA. (At this time, the connector cannot be disconnected yet.)

Push down the white housing lock again and disconnect the connector.
Note
Do not push down the part (A) shown in the illustration when disconnecting the connector.
Remove the nut and rear airbag sensor from the vehicle body.
Note
Loosen the nut while holding the rear airbag sensor because the rear airbag sensor pin (stopper) is easily damaged.
After disconnecting the connector, check that the position of the white housing lock is correct as shown in the illustration.
