DESCRIPTION

The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator circuit consists of the airbag sensor assembly and passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator (clock assembly).

The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator indicates the operation condition of the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly and front seat airbag sub-assembly RH.

DTC B1660/43 is stored when a malfunction is detected in the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator circuit.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CONDITION


    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    2. Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator operation.

      Refer to the normal condition of the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator.

  2. CHECK CONNECTORS


    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the airbag sensor assembly, clock assembly and instrument panel junction block assembly. Also check that the connectors that link the No. 4 instrument panel wire and instrument panel wire are properly connected.

      The connectors are properly connected.

      Tech Tips

      If the connectors are not properly connected, reconnect the connectors and proceed to the next inspection.

    4. Disconnect the connectors from the airbag sensor assembly, clock assembly and instrument panel junction block assembly. Also disconnect the connectors that link the No. 4 instrument panel wire and instrument panel wire.

    5. Check that the terminals of the connectors are not damaged.

  3. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR


    1. Connect the connector to the clock assembly and instrument panel junction block assembly. Also connect the connectors that link the No. 4 instrument panel wire and instrument panel wire.

    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    4. Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator operation.

      OK
      The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator does not come on.

  4. CHECK DTC

      Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Connect the connector to the airbag sensor assembly.

    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

    5. Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

    6. Turn the ignition switch off.

    7. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
