THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM Engine Hood Courtesy Switch Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The engine hood courtesy switch is installed together with the hood lock assembly. This switch turns on when the engine hood is closed and turns off when the engine hood is opened.

  • If the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) is replaced, refer to Service Bulletin.*

  • As the door control battery is installed between the vehicle battery and main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU), first perform the inspections in On-Vehicle Inspection to confirm that there are no malfunctions in the power source circuit for the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) before performing this troubleshooting procedure.*

PROCEDURE


  1. READ VALUE USING GTS (HOOD COURTESY SW)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Data List.

    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the GTS.


      Body Electrical > Main Body > Data List

      ON: Engine hood open

      OFF: Engine hood closed

  2. INSPECT ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH (HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY)


    1. Remove the hood lock assembly.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU) - ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH (HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY)- BODY GROUND)


    1. Disconnect the F19 main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F19-11 (HCTY) - A10-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      F19-11 (HCTY) or A10-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A10-2 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
