MASS AIR FLOW METER ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

Note

Perform the mass air flow meter sub-assembly inspection according to the following procedure.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT MASS AIR FLOW METER SUB-ASSEMBLY

    Perform "Inspection After Repair" after replacing the mass air flow meter sub-assembly.

    1. Read the value of Data List item "Mass Air Flow Sensor" using the GTS.

      Note


      • Perform the inspection with the vehicle indoors and on a level surface.

      • Perform the inspection of the mass air flow meter sub-assembly while it is installed to the air cleaner cap sub-assembly (installed to the vehicle).


      1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Turn the GTS on.

      4. Start the engine and warm it up until the engine coolant temperature 75°C (167°F) or higher with all the accessories switched off.

      5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Mass Air Flow Sensor.


        Powertrain > Engine > Data List
        Tester Display
        Mass Air Flow Sensor
      6. According to the display on the GTS, read the Data List when the engine is running.

        Standard Condition
        GTS Display Condition Specified Condition
        Mass Air Flow Sensor Idling (engine warmed up) 2.0 to 5.0 gm/sec
        2000 rpm (without load) 18.0 to 22.0 gm/sec
        3000 rpm (without load) 28.0 to 34.0 gm/sec

        If the result is not as specified, replace the mass air flow meter sub-assembly.

        If the result is within the specified range, remove and inspect the mass air flow meter sub-assembly.

  2. PERFORM INITIALIZATION


    1. Perform "Inspection After Repair" after replacing the mass air flow meter sub-assembly.
