SFI SYSTEM Pattern Select Switch Snow Mode Circuit

DESCRIPTION

When SNOW mode is selected, the operation of the throttle motor is moderated to control engine output. This helps to reduce skidding of the drive wheels, and assists with takeoff acceleration, driving straightness and turning stability.

PROCEDURE


  1. READ VALUE USING GTS (SNOW OR 2ND START MODE)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.

    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Snow or 2nd Start Mode.


      Powertrain > Engine > Data List
      Tester Display
      Snow or 2nd Start Mode
    4. Read the value displayed on the GTS.

      OK
      Condition GTS Display (Snow or 2nd Start Mode)
      SNOW mode on ON
      SNOW mode off OFF
      Result
      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

  2. INSPECT PATTERN SELECT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (SNOW MODE SWITCH)


    1. Inspect the pattern select switch assembly (SNOW mode switch).

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - PATTERN SELECT SWITCH ASSEMBLY)


    1. Disconnect the pattern select switch assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A43-11 (SNWI) - F42-8 (2ND) Always Below 1 Ω
      A43-11 (SNWI) or F42-8 (2ND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PATTERN SELECT SWITCH ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND)


    1. Disconnect the pattern select switch assembly connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      F42-5 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
