DESCRIPTION

An ECU and motor are built into the swing grille actuator assembly. The operation state of the grille shutter is determined using the motor pulse signal.

When the ECU determines that there is a grille shutter timing angle malfunction or operation time malfunction, DTCs are stored.

When either of the following mechanical malfunctions is detected:


  • Timing angle malfunction

  • Operation time malfunction

  • Swing grille actuator assembly

  • Radiator shutter sub-assembly

Note


  • Before performing troubleshooting, check for ice, etc. around the fins and links.

  • If the swing grille actuator assembly is replaced with a new one, perform "Change Radiator Shutter Control State".

PROCEDURE


  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING GTS (SHUTTER OPERATION)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Grille Shutter / Active Test.

    5. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the GTS.


      Body Electrical > Grill Shutter > Active Test
      Tester Display Measurement Item Control Range Diagnostic Note
      Shutter Closing Operation Lock Detection Grille shutter OFF or Close Closing operation performed until motor stops due to lock detection.
      Shutter Opening Operation Lock Detection Grille shutter OFF or Open Opening operation performed until motor stops due to lock detection.
