VEHICLE PROXIMITY NOTIFICATION SYSTEM There is No Sound Made

DESCRIPTION

The vehicle approaching speaker controller receives stop light switch signals from the semiconductor pwr integration ECU, vehicle speed signals from the combination meter assembly and permission signals from the hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly, and produces the warning sound from the vehicle approaching speaker assembly.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Vehicle Proximity Notification System / Trouble Codes.

    5. Check for DTCs.

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING GTS (Proximity Sound (Vehicle Stationary))


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Vehicle Proximity Notification System / Active Test.

    5. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the GTS.

  10. CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY

    1. Connect the K3 combination meter assembly connector.

    2. Connect the K145 vehicle approaching speaker controller connector.

    3. Check the input waveform.


      1. Remove the combination meter assembly with the connector(s) still connected.

      2. Connect an oscilloscope to terminal K3-19 (+S) and body ground.

      3. Turn the power switch on (IG).

      4. Turn a wheel slowly.

      5. Check the signal waveform according to the condition(s) in the table below.

        Tech Tips

        When the system is functioning normally, one wheel revolution generates 4 pulses. As the vehicle speed increases, the width indicated by (A) in the illustration narrows.

  11. CHECK STOP LIGHT OPERATION


    1. Check that the stop lights come on when the brake pedal is depressed, and go off when the brake pedal is released.

    1. Disconnect the K145 vehicle approaching speaker controller connector.

    2. Disconnect the 1F semiconductor pwr integration ECU connector.

    3. Disconnect the Q43 rear combination light assembly LH connector.

    4. Disconnect the Q5 rear combination light assembly RH connector.

    5. Disconnect the Q8 center stop light assembly connector.

    6. Disconnect the A24 skid control ECU assembly connector.

    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
