PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY (MANUAL (SOS) SWITCH)

      Component without harness connected

      (Map Light Assembly (Manual (SOS) Switch))

      Remove the map light assembly (manual (SOS) switch).

      Click here

    2. Connect 4 dry-cell batteries (1.5 V each) in series.

    3. Connect a positive (+) from the batteries lead to terminal 5 (RRID) and a negative (-) lead to terminal 9 (GND3) of the map light assembly (manual (SOS) switch) connector.

    4. Check if the manual (SOS) switch illuminates.

      OK
      Manual (SOS) switch illuminates.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER - MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY (MANUAL (SOS) SWITCH))


    1. Disconnect the K158 telematics transceiver connector.

    2. Disconnect the S4 map light assembly (manual (SOS) switch) connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K158-9 (SLID) - S4-5 (RRID) Always Below 1 Ω
      K158-26 (SIG-) - S4-9 (GND3) Always Below 1 Ω
      K158-9 (SLID) or S4-5 (RRID) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K158-26 (SIG-) or S4-9 (GND3) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
